Privacy Policy — SEO PageRank
SEO PageRank is a browser extension that performs on-page SEO audits inside your browser, with optional AI-powered features for signed-in users. This policy explains exactly what the extension accesses, what stays on your device, and what is transmitted — and when.
Last updated: August 17, 2026
The short version
- All audit features run locally. SEO score, checks, keyword density, link analysis, SERP panel, Web Vitals — computed in your browser. No page content is sent anywhere for these features.
- AI features are optional and explicit. Only when you sign in on pagerankstatus.org and click an AI "Generate" button, the extension sends that page's context (URL, title, headings, a text excerpt) to our servers to produce the result.
- No analytics, no tracking, no data sale. Ever.
What the extension accesses
When you invoke SEO PageRank on a page, it reads that page's DOM — title, meta tags, headings, links, images, structured data — to compute the audit locally. To complete the audit it may also request, directly from your browser: the page's own URL (to read HTTP headers such as X-Robots-Tag), the site's own /robots.txt and /sitemap.xml, and — only when you click "Check link status" — the pages your page links to, to report broken links. These requests go from your browser to the sites in question; they never pass through our servers.
Data transmitted to pagerankstatus.org (optional, signed-in features only)
- Account status. If you sign in on pagerankstatus.org, the extension reads your session to display your email, plan and credit balance. Your credentials are handled by the website — the extension never sees your password.
- AI generation. When you click an AI button, the extension sends the current page's URL, title, meta description, headings, and an excerpt of visible text (and for alt-text generation, image URLs) to pagerankstatus.org, which processes it with an AI model and returns the result. This content is used solely to generate your output and is not used to train models.
- If you never sign in, none of the above happens — the extension makes no requests to pagerankstatus.org except when you open its pages yourself.
What is stored on your device
Settings (language, SERP panel preferences), your local audit history, and a cached copy of your account status are stored in the browser's extension storage. You can clear them at any time from the extension's Settings or by removing the extension.
Permissions and why they are needed
activeTab— read the page you explicitly invoke the extension on, to compute its SEO score locally.storage— save your settings, local audit history and cached account status on your device.- Host permissions (
https://*/*,http://*/*) — run the audit drawer on any page you choose to analyze; fetch that site's own robots.txt/sitemap; check the status of links on the page when you ask; and reach pagerankstatus.org for optional signed-in features.
Payments
Paid plans are purchased on our website through our merchant of record. The extension itself never handles payment details; upgrading simply opens the website's checkout page.
Remote code
The extension contains no remotely hosted code. All JavaScript and assets are bundled in the package and reviewed by the Chrome Web Store.
